My passions

Teaching journalism is my work, but art is my passion. I enjoy photography, woodworking and cooking, all forms of art that help me relax when work time is over. I have been asked many times if I sell my art, but the answer is no. I may give it away on occasion, but selling it would make it seem like work instead of relaxation.

Most of my woodworking is what is called "flat work," meaning I make more furniture than sculpture. Photography began for me in college, and it got me my first job in journalism. For some years, I did a lot of darkroom-manipulation work, but in the past decade or so I have gravitated more toward landscape photography.

Here are a couple of galleries of my work, one of photography and one of woodworking.
