Career newsman
The picture at right is misleading. Yes, I once sat in the anchor chair at CBS News in Washington, but no, I was not on the air. I was just visiting a friend who worked in the bureau.
I have had a long career in news, though. Before coming to the University of Florida in 1993, I spent 20 years working at newspapers and magazines of many sizes and shapes. Most recently, I worked at The Albuquerque Tribune, American Journalism Review, The Gainesville Sun and the St. Petersburg Times. I wrote dining criticism twice a month for the Sun for 20 years and occasional freelance pieces about wine. The Resume' link contains more complete information.
